Lily Allen: 'I won't release another album'

Lily Allen has confirmed that she does not plan to release another album and will not be renewing her record contract.

The singer, writing on her blog, It's Not Alright, said that she would not be renewing her deal with her label, EMI. Earlier this month Allen said she was considering a career in acting following her last live music commitments. She has since taken down the blog.

Writing about illegal file-sharing and her campaign to encourage people to stop doing it, she wrote, "Just so you know, I have not renegotiated my record contract and have no plans to make another record. I do however remain a fan of new music, so this is not some selfish crusade.

"The days of me making money from recording music have been and gone as far as I'm concerned, so I don't (at this point) stand to profit from legislation [from the government regarding file-sharing]. Except future purchases of previously recorded material (which won’t be much)."

Allen's spokesperson said that the singer, who has tour dates booked until mid-December, was not completely stepping away from music. "She is not quitting pop music," he told. "She is not thinking about her next album right now because she is still in the middle of promoting her current record
